About Us

The Southwest Spokane County Historical Society is a group of volunteers and donors who care for our collection of materials and use them to tell the stories of the people, places and events of our district.

Who We Are And What We Do.

Museum History

Simplified Gerald the mouse mascot.

The museum was started in 1935 by the Tilicum Club, a women’s service organization. The Southwest Spokane County Historical Society evolved from the club to include all people interested in our local history.

The Spokane County Historical Society dba, Cheney Historical Museum is a registered 501c3 organization funded entirely through your donations.

Our collection comes from the families, businesses, farms, and organizations in the Marshall, Four Lakes, Cheney, Tyler, and Amber districts. We actively seek new materials to add to the collection, so that our story may become richer.
